    Job Description
    The Seasonal Gardener maintains period and teaching gardens, interpreting four centuries of garden and landscape history. The position involves engaging with the general public in a museum/historic/cultural landscape with a focus on garden preservation and maintenance.
    The part-time, seasonal schedule is 7.5 hours on Sundays, from May through October. Occasional evening and other hours may be required for special events.
    Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Garden and landscape preservation and maintenance, physical labor, plant identification, and cultivation work
    • Public speaking and interpretation, including garden tours
    • Assist with the organization of roleplayers, interns, and volunteers
    • Use historic/museum and modern horticultural practices while working independently
    • Adhere closely to a seasonal/weekly work plan, and follow through with diverse tasks
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Experience and education in horticulture, botany, farming, or related field
    • Enthusiasm and passion for community outreach, education, gardening, and garden/landscape preservation
    • Physically fit, able to work outdoors for long periods of time in all weather conditions, and lift up to 50 lbs.
