An artists' showcase to benefit Albacore Park will be held Dec. 1 to 14 at the park, 600 Market St., Portsmouth. You can view and purchase the watercolor paintings of Susan Maxfield. Maxfield lived most of her life in the Seacoast and now resides in Northwood.
She began painting 12 years ago when she retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard after a 25-year career as a mnagbment analyst. Maxfield and her husband Gil now divide their time wintering in Northwood and enjolying the summer at their cottage on Prince Edward Island.
Maxfield's painting experience began on the island at the PEI School of the Arts where she attended classes for several weeks each summer. She contines to sutdy under other artists in both PEI and in the Seacoast, including Sanctuary Arts in Eliot, Maine.
Maxfield enjoys painting in watercolors en plein air, or from original photographs which often capture the landscapes of both New England and the Maritimes of Canada.
