Chamber Collaborative Presents The Future of Affordable Housing in Portsmouth
Bank of America / Merrill Lynch Breakfast Series

PORTSMOUTH – The Chamber Collaborative of Greater Portsmouth will host a discussion-based program on finding solutions for affordable housing in the City of Portsmouth. The Bank of America / Merrill Lynch Breakfast Series: The Future of Affordable Housing in Portsmouth, will be held on Wednesday, February 7th at 7:30am at the Sheraton Harborside Hotel, 250 Market Street, Portsmouth, NH.

The public demand for workforce housing in the Greater Seacoast has never been as prominent as it is today. Far too much of our vital workforce has been priced out of the Portsmouth area, in particular. This decrease has been pronounced for workers in some of our most important industries such as service and hospitality, first responders, teachers, coaches, health care professionals, and employees of nonprofit organizations.

During The Bank of America / Merrill Lynch Breakfast Series, the Portsmouth Housing Authority (PHA) will be joining the Chamber Collaborative for a civic discussion around finding a clear and direct response to the goal of an inclusive, socially and economically diverse community. The PHA will focus on their 2017-2020 Strategic Plan that includes growing and preserving the number of affordable rental units in the city.

“Providing adequate and affordable housing is vital to our workforce acquisition and retention, and is a key driver for economic stability,” mentions Valerie Rochon, President and Chief Collaborator of the Chamber Collaborative. “The lack of diverse housing inventory in the Greater Portsmouth area puts many of our small businesses at risk, and diminishes the social vitality of our community.”

Tickets for the Bank of America / Merrill Lynch Breakfast Series: The Future of Affordable Housing in Portsmouth, are $20 for Chamber Collaborative members and $25 for future members. To purchase tickets and register for the event, please visit PortsmouthCollaborative.org/Events.
