Keeping You Connected to the Great Bay
Recently, the Great Bay Stewards held their annual meeting by Zoom for the safety of all participants. For those of you unable to attend, I wanted to let you know some of what I shared during the meeting and let you know that you can see the presentation on our website.
I want to thank my fellow board members for meeting the challenge of these changing times with energy, creativity and good spirits. I also want to welcome our newest board member, Martin Borg. In these trying times, we have successfully reimagined the Great Bay 5K | Race for a Healthy Estuary and continued to bring awareness of the Great Bay Stewards mission to the greater Seacoast area.
Most importantly, I want to thank you . . . our community of members, volunteers and donors whose contributions support GBNERR programing including research, education, land management and outreach. The Stewards, and our supporters, are in the fight for a healthy, thriving estuary, which has become especially crucial during this time of changing climate. You help us to make a difference every day.
Did you know that each of the 29 reserves across the country are reviewed by NOAA every five years? At GBNERRs recent round table, the NOAA committee made these comments:
Great Bay is one of the top reserves.
Coastwise, likeminded groups have high recognition for the Reserve, as do regional and state governments.
A lean, mean staff doing it all seamlessly.
The water quality testing and marsh monitoring are important locally, regionally, and in the nation.
As you have contributed to the Great Bay Stewards, so does the Great Bay Reserve contribute to the bank of knowledge shared by all 29 national reserves, likeminded groups, and local, state and national governments.
The Great Bay Stewards thank you for all you have contributed this year and for your ongoing support. As the Reserve Manage, Cory Riley says, "You make things possible that would be difficult or impossible without it."
It's a great time to make a difference,
Deborah Alberts Chair, Great Bay Stewards
Thank you to all of the participants, the sponsors and the volunteers who were involved with the Great Bay 5K and the all new Great Bay 55K Challenge! Over the course of 24 days, the participants walked and ran around Great Bay or a course of their choice. Congratulations to all the winners! We are looking forward to 2021 and will announce the date soon!
While we miss seeing you in person this year at the Great Bay Stewards annual meeting, we are so proud of our accomplishments that we wanted to be able to share them with you. READ MORE
Every year, the Great Bay Stewards asks our Friends and Neighbors to help support the Stewards with a monetary donation. This year, the Stewards are looking to raise $40,000 for several key projects. Online donations are acceptedor look for a letter in your mailbox in the coming weeks. As always, we appreciate your continued support.
