, Friday, September 8, from 9 am - 5 pm, at Portsmouth’s 3S ArtSpace
. A limited number of tickets to the highly-anticipated event go on sale this Monday, August 21, at noon. Tickets are $55 per person and available at www.TEDxPiscataquaRiver.com
“Last year was the first time the public was able to purchase tickets to TEDxPiscataquaRiver and they sold out in 25 hours,” says Crystal Paradis, event organizer. “We anticipate a quick sellout this year, so set your alarms!”
The day-long event, hosted by features local, regional and national presenters from the worlds of business,faith, education, innovation, philanthropy, athletics, music, art, and advocacy. The audience can interact and play with a series of immersive art-making experiences, both individualized and collaborative, all exploring the question “what are my terms?” These immersive experiences are concepted and created by Circulus Arts.
The TEDxPiscataquaRiver Ticketing Model
The TEDxPiscataquaRiver audience is a mix of curated attendees (i.e. student delegates, nonprofit, and community leaders) and general ticket holders from business, arts, tech, and creative industries.
Determining who attends TEDxPiscataquaRiver is based on the principles of diversity and inclusiveness. “We have thoughtfully and strategically developed a ticket distribution model that we feel will strikes a balance between making the event accessible to the public while ensuring a diverse audience that spans a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines,” says Paradis.
From 2012 to 2015, TEDxPiscataquaRiver had a license allowing only 100 attendees. To ensure an audience representing all of the community and students, 25% of tickets (25 seats) were available for free by public lottery. Starting in 2016, TEDxPiscataquaRiver’s license has enabled the event to expand beyond than 100 people; capacity at 3S Artspace is 200. “We expect demand to exceed capacity,” says Paradis, “so we provide alternative ways for the public to participate in the day. It's our goal to continue to make the event available to more people each year.
