3S Artspace and Fukudance present a special preview performance of RE:main Saturday, June 9 at 8pm, $18, in the Performance Space. The Re:main preview seeks to inspire self empowerment through contemporary dance by reflecting on contemporary issues as a community. In particular, RE:main is a cathartic exploration of one’s feelings of powerlessness amidst unjust and controlling forces in society.
The performers’ movement is born out of feedback gathered in several interactive workshops hosted by Fukudance’s director and choreographer, Junichi Fukuda. Open to those with feelings of otherness, exclusion, and disenfranchisement, particularly teenagers, the workshops provided a sharing medium for stories of their experience with injustices.
On June 14 at 8pm, JAZZ IS PHSH, an instrumental tribute to Phish, hits the 3S stage. Tickets are $17 in advance. JAZZ IS PHSH is a collective of prominent musicians from the Jazz and Jam scenes that have come together in their appreciation of Phish music to reimagine Phish in an instrumental, jazz fusion setting!
Kevin Morby is also in the lineup early this summer, June 19 at 8pm. Tickets are $18 in advance. City Music, Morby’s new album is full of listless wanderlust, a collection inspired by the metropolitan experience across America and beyond.
