Please join us for a ribbon cutting event celebrating C-10 Research & Education Foundation installation of their 20th monitoring station on Star Island in the Isles of Shoals!
This event is being co-organized by the C-10 Research & Education Foundation and the Chamber Collaborative of Greater Portsmouth, and in coordination with the Star Island Corporation.
Event participants will enjoy a one-hour narrated boat cruise out of Portsmouth, NH, passing historical coastal landmarks, then will dock and disembark onto Star Island for one hour, then will return back to Portsmouth.
For the first 15 minutes on the island, C-10 and the Chamber Collaborative of Greater Portsmouth will hold an optional-to-attend ribbon cutting ceremony in front of C-10's recently installed real-time radiological monitoring system including brief remarks from event organizers and supporters.
This is a family-friendly event, and those with children may be drawn to Star Island's Rutledge Marine Laboratory where sea critters can be observed in their tanks, or parents can relax and take in the breathtaking views while the little ones climb, slide, and swing on the playground.
During their time on the island, event attendees can explore what is one of the first footholds for settlement in the new world. Highlights include:- The Oceanic hotel, which rivaled the grandest hotels of the time and is still in operation today
- The replica of Gosport Village, a fishing outpost dating back to the early 1600s
- The Vaughn Cottage Museum
- The tallest gravestone in the state of New Hampshire, the John Smith Monument, and the Caswell Cemetery
