The Seacoast's beloved woodwind quintet will perform a concert of Frogs and Fools, Haydn and Holland's Houses, a family-friendly concert for the young at heart. This concert features two stories - Frog and Toad in the Garden, and The Fool of the World - intertwined with some classics from the repertoire including Divertimento in Bb by Haydn.
Quintessence is delighted to include special guest, Rochester storyteller Joanne Piazzi, to bring the stories to life. MyPSO will be introducing a family of musicians: young brothers Nathan and Gabe on viola and cello are joined by their mother (and narrator) Marissa Federico in the opening story "The Prince Rooster" by Newburyport Music Festival Director David Yang, adapted to the young musicians. Founded in 2000 by Virginia Macdonald and Janet Polasky, Quintessence has performed at weddings, garden walks, Strawbery Banke’s Candlelight Stroll, toy stores, children's concerts, library concerts, church services, and nursing homes. Piazzi has been telling stories professionally since 1996. She has an MA in the Creative Arts in Education from Lesley University. She is a member of the Seacoast Storytellers (NH) and LANES. Piazzi also leads workshops for educators and children. Kibbie Straw (flute) Amanda Doiron (oboe) Virginia Macdonald (clarinet) Janet Polasky (bassoon) Mariah Sheppard (french horn).
