Portsmouth Peace Treaty Day

Saturday, Sept. 5 is Portsmouth Peace Treaty Day, by proclamation of the Governor.

The annual bell-ringing will take place in Market Square, outside 15 Pleasant St., at 3:47 p.m.
 

After the Shipyard whistle blows in salute at the moment the Treaty was signed,

the church bells of Portsmouth and Kittery ring and those gathered -- at physical distance -- ring bells.
