Description: Come to the farm-to-table Throwback Brewery and enjoy a complimentary beer as part of your ticket to this unique event. The Portsmouth Symphony's Field Trip series is exploring how humanity inhabits this earth in a series of four performances. After a discussion about climate change by Barry N. Rock, Professor Emeritus, Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, performers from the Portsmouth Symphony's string section will explore chamber music that embraces our connection with the earth, and reminds us that we are its caretakers. Ian MacKay and Brooke LaMonica, violin; Jan Heirtzler, viola; Dorothy Braker, cello Joel Love String Quartet No. 1 - the Iter Animae (Journey of the Soul). As a whole, the string quartet depicts a transformation from dark to light. Lisa Ragsdale string trios 1 and 2 "Surreptitious Seas" has a lively discussion about climate change and its effect, both on our Earth and in our psyche. David Balakrishnan, "Tree of Life" quartet. Music evoking India, Africa, American Bluegrass and ending back in India with Kirtan chant, written by the founder of the Turtle Island quartet.
