The 'Tree of Love' in Portsmouth's Market Square needs your heart
Have you ever been invited to create a Valentine for a City?
Well the City of Portsmouth is inviting you to do just that!
"In honor of Valentine's Day, love and spreading kindness," writes Brinn Sullivan, irrepressible spirit of the Recreation & Senior Services Department, "we are creating a Tree of Love on the tree in Market Square."
The City's evergreen, now adorned with holiday lights, will be decorated with hearts painted by school children. But don't feel left out if you're not a school aged child. "You are welcome to join this fun!" says Brinn. "Hearts may include any positive words or decorations." Other possibilities? "Names of loved ones, thank yous, good vibes, or just decorated for the season."
Be as creative as you'd like!
Feel free to use a template provided—or don't! Different designs are welcome.
1. Print heart from a template provided (or make your own!)
2. Color, write, decorate
3. Return to City Hall on Junkins Ave. or the Portsmouth Senior Activity Center (now at 125 Cottage St.) There's a box under a canopy!
4. Hearts will be laminated and given a string -- for hanging purposes
Drop off Date:
Please give us your heart(!) by Wednesday, Feb. 10
The Department of Public Works will hang the Valentines on Friday, Feb. 12
