OGUNQUIT, MAINE – Ogunquit Playhouse, the crown jewel of the Maine Southern Seacoast and a renowned destination for regional theater, is proud to announce that Deborah Warren will join Ogunquit Playhouse as the new managing director, beginning March 1. Warren’s appointment follows a national search conducted by Tom O’Connor Consulting Group and led by a search committee of Playhouse Board and Staff.
With more than 20 years in the performing arts, Deborah Warren comes to Ogunquit Playhouse from Center Theatre Group in Los Angeles, where she’s directed marketing, publicity, advertising and sales campaigns for over 80 productions at the Ahmanson, Mark Taper Forum and Kirk Douglas Theatre. Prior to joining Center Theatre Group, Deborah held senior level positions at Disney Theatrical, served as the head of the west coast office of advertising firm Serino Coyne, and worked with Manhattan Theatre Club, Hartford Stage, New Dramatists, and the Berkshire Theatre Festival, among other prestigious performing arts organizations.
“Deborah’s career has taken her from major cultural forces like Disney Theatrical and Manhattan Theatre Club in New York City to Los Angeles for her distinguished work at Center Theater Group,” commented Ogunquit Playhouse Executive Artistic Director Bradford T. Kenney. “We are so pleased to have her cross the country once again as a vital new addition to the Ogunquit Playhouse family. Deborah comes to us as we look forward to the theatre’s upcoming renovation and at a time when our vision for our theater’s future is brighter than ever.”
“It is an honor to join Brad in the leadership of this incredible organization,” said Warren. “The Playhouse has a rich legacy and a bright future ahead. I look forward to working with Brad, the Board, the staff, and meeting the community of supporters and audiences.”
Playhouse Board President Ben Auger said, “Deborah brings a wealth of theatrical passion and experience to The Playhouse, with an impressive career spanning the country and 20 years. We are immensely proud to welcome her to Ogunquit.”
Ogunquit Playhouse’s 2023 lineup features the extended regional theater premiere of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical (May 11 - June 10), bringing back all of King’s greatest hits; Singin’ in the Rain (June 15 - July 15), the classic Comden & Green movie musical voted history’s top movie musical by AFI; the new international production of Emilio and Gloria Estefan’s On Your Feet! (July 20 - August 19), the true story of two Cuban immigrants’ improbable rise to mainstream music stardom; the American premiere of the new stage thriller The Da Vinci Code (August 24 - September 23), based on author Dan Brown’s best-selling international phenomenon; and the regional premiere of Tootsie (September 28 - October 29), which transports frustrated actor Michael Dorsey from the hilarious ‘80s film to the competitive world of Broadway musical auditions.
Ogunquit Playhouse’s 2023 season runs May 11 through October 29, with five mainstage shows, two Ogunquit Playhouse at The Music Hall offerings, and more. Season passes go on sale today, member pre-sale begins March 21, and single tickets go on sale March 28. For more information, visit ogunquitplayhouse.org.
