PORTSMOUTH – New work done during the pandemic by New Hampshire Art Association artist Ree Katrak will be on exhibit during May at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery.

“As an abstract artist, my work is an expression of thoughts and feelings,” Katrak said. “Since March of 2020 I have developed a body of work that reflects my personal journey during the height of COVID-19 – a time in world history that has been fraught with suffering and confusion.”

Katrak also saw the possibility of seeing beyond the despair into moments of connection and joy.

“The year 2021 has brought the possibility of new beginning, and I find that my work is reflecting a feeling of optimism and a sense of space,” she added.

Katrak has been making and studying art since she was 9 years old. Her formal training began at the DeCordova Museum School, followed by independent study during her teen years with Ellen Sinclair Junger (noted Boston artist within the Hyman Bloom circle.)

She did more course study at The Ecole des Beaux Arts in Lausanne, Switzerland, the Boston Museum School, The Art Institute of Boston and the Rhode Island School of Design.

Katrak’s most recent exhibits from 2012 – 2019 include group and solo shows at various venues including the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery; the Barn Gallery in Ogunquit, Maine; the Silver Center, Plymouth State University, Plymouth; Trident Books in Boston, Massachusetts and Up Front Street Gallery in Exeter.

The gallery is following the CDC and state’s recommendations for safety while visiting during the COVID-19 pandemic. Call 603-431-4230 if you have any questions or would like to make a private appointment to visit the gallery due to any concerns. All artwork is for sale both at the gallery and online.
