Why did you decide to join the Chamber?

As a small business owner/sol prop, I really appreciate the networking opportunities, so I've always tried to stay in the loop with my local chamber(s).

What is a Chamber benefit that you feel is helpful to you and your industry, specifically?

The fact that the Portsmouth Chamber made a Sol Prop Membership option speaks volumes. I also like knowing I can call on contacts there when I have a question, need a referral on a resource, or just need to soundboard something off someone. I've hosted a few professional development sessions over the years where it's a Chamber-backed event and the turnout is always decent and well-marketed. It's always led to more business/referrals as well.

If someone told you they were planning to join the Chamber, what advice would you give them about making the most of their membership?

Look at the CALENDAR! haha I appreciate the emails as well, since there is always a list of upcoming events and mixers, but the calendar is a treasure trove of opportunities to network if that's why someone is joining. Attend everything you can because I've noticed you'll see different types of members at different events.

“Because of my membership in the Chamber I…”

I always have a collaborative soundboard or think-tank I can lean on. This is super helpful since I am a one-woman-shop.
