Lundi Gras, the Monday before Mardi Gras, celebrates with evolving traditions, and in Portsmouth, NH, the Jumbo Circus Peanuts bring a unique Mardi Gras-style celebration. Known for putting Mardi Gras on the local social calendar, the band hosts a dance party as part of Jimmy's Monday Night Discovery Series, playing music from New Orleans legends like Professor Longhair, The Meters, and Dr. John, along with their own funky, soulful mix. Originally formed in 1995 for the Portsmouth Halloween Parade, the Jumbo Circus Peanuts made their indoor debut on Mardi Gras 1996, and since then, have turned every performance into a lively dance party. The 11-piece band features 8 horns and blends funk, soul, and horn-driven rock and roll, keeping audiences on their feet.
