This summer marks a very special anniversary for the Ogunquit Playhouse. On Monday, July 10, from 10AM to 2PM, the Ogunquit Playhouse is hosting a Community Day in celebration of 85 years as a proud member of the Seacoast community!
Come join Playhouse staff and volunteers for a day of celebration in the Patio Garden at the Ogunquit Playhouse! All activities are free of charge and include picnic food and cake, and a specialty soda tasting by Captain Eli’s Tap Van. Guests will also enjoy music, photos, face painting, and so much more! There will be free hot air balloon rides from 9AM to 11AM courtesy of REMaxx. Children can take a tour of one of the Ogunquit Fire Department’s trucks before having a blast in the bounce house. Keep an eye out for Myles Bratter and Rainbow the Talking Macaw arriving on their motorcycle during the event. There’ll even be a sneak peek at the Children’s Theatre performance of Disney’s The Lion King, Jr.!
The Ogunquit Playhouse opened its doors for the first time during the summer of 1933, in a renovated garage in Ogunquit’s town square. Four years later a parcel of farmland was purchased outside the village center, and the first purpose-built summer theatre in the country was constructed, which at the time rivaled many theatres in New York City. The present day theatre opened its doors for the first time on July 10, 1937. Now, 85 years later, the Ogunquit Playhouse is still going strong, producing the newest and brightest musicals, complete with top-notch professional cast and creative teams direct from Broadway, Los Angeles, and London.
Join in on the celebration at this family friendly event, Monday, July 10th from 10AM – 2PM at the Ogunquit Playhouse.
