    Description

In October 2016, a dream long held became a reality – Alnoba – a 14,530 square foot gathering place located on 400 acres of fields and forests in Kensington, NH, opened as the first Passive House building of its type in the Northeast. With heat provided by geo-thermal wells located deep under the building, electricity from a field of solar panels, barn timbers from the 1760’s, reclaimed wood flooring, and a massive stone fireplace the building is a model of sustainability and conservation.

The construction of Alnoba was documented in the film: Of stone, wood and glass: Alnoba by award winning filmmaker and master storyteller, David Conover. With his keen eye and passion for story-telling, David has produced his own films that have aired on PBS, the Discovery Channel, and National Geographic Explorer.

Built in harmony with the earth, the vision and execution of Alnoba was a collaborative effort.  Premier architect, Matt O’Malia of G O Logic Homes created the structural vision for Alnoba. Using locally sourced granite, Mike Delsesto of Hayden Hillsgrove Stone Masonry developed and created the detailed stone and masonry work within and around the building. By planting native species and mature trees, Master Landscape Designer, Harold Bragg of Down to Earth Landscapes crafted a utopic environment that is sure to inspire. The massive project was managed by Bruce Cilley of Kensington Invenstment Corp.

Please join us for a screening of the film, followed by a Q&A session with Matt, Mike, Harold and Bruce.
