Position: Small Family Fellowship – Summer Media & Tourism Fellow

Chamber Overview:
The mission of the Chamber Collaborative of Greater Portsmouth is to lead the business community as a convener of people, businesses, and organizations, through communication, education, support, advocacy, and cooperative opportunities to make the Greater Portsmouth area a better, more prosperous place to live, work and play.
Majors Accepted:
A variety of majors can gain practical experience from this internship program which would serve as an extension of their learning in the classroom. Applicable areas of study/passion may include, but are not limited to, Art, Business Administration, Hospitality, Marketing, and Tourism.
Position Overview:
- Hourly Rate: $16 per hour
- Hours Per Week: 30 hours
- Fellowship Duration: June 2 – August 8, 2025

Position Details:
The Chamber Collaborative of Greater Portsmouth is looking for a summer media and tourism fellow who can help develop and fully execute a plan to build a collection of content pieces designed to market Portsmouth as a tourism destination and promote participation in the Chamber Collaborative.
This position is primarily in person, located in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
The fellow will work approximately 30 hours per week from June 2 - August 8 and participate in an end-of-summer poster presentation to showcase their work and develop skills to communice their work to the public. The exact schedule will be set by mutual agreement between the selected candidate and the Chamber staff and will include some evening activities and assignments.
Additional areas of focus will include assisting the team with executing events such as Business After Hours, Morning Mixer, Let’s Talk Tourism, Talking Shop and more.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Student will attend staff meetings and committee meetings as assigned.
- Student will attend most Chamber events during the course of their fellowship.
- Student will assist in data management within our CRM and SharePoint server.
- Student will assist with event logistics.
- Student will answer the phone and help visitors with directions or recommendations about the area during fill-in shifts at the front desk.
Qualifications:
- Student must be currently enrolled at the University of New Hampshire as an in-state student.
- Student must be willing to learn the basic taking points about the Greater Portsmouth business community and tourism market and possess the ability to make reasonable attempts to answer to follow-up questions from visitors.
- Student must be familiar with the basics of Microsoft Office.
- Student must be comfortable speaking on the telephone – or willing to practice until comfortable.
- Student must project a positive attitude.
- Student may be asked to lift boxes weighing up to 50 lbs., however this is not a requirement of the position, and reasonable accommodations will certainly be made if the student is unable to perform this task.
- Student must possess strong organization skills.
- Student will, ideally, possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
